Arrive already adjusted

Land in the right time zone. And feel like it.

A personalized plan shifts your light, sleep, melatonin, and caffeine across the days before, during, and after your trip, so your body is already on destination time when you step off the plane.

Your first trip is free. Plan a whole journey before you decide.

The problem isn't the flight

Jet lag is a timing problem. So we fixed the timing.

Crossing time zones drags your internal clock out of sync with the world around you. That's the fog, the 3 a.m. wide-awake, the afternoon crash. It's a scheduling problem with a known solution. Using the science of light and melatonin timing, Driftwise nudges your clock toward your destination a little each day, so you adapt in days instead of the usual rule of thumb of one day per time zone.

Driftwise is a planning tool, not a medical device. See our medical disclaimer.

How it works

A plan, not a guess.

  1. Tell us your trip

Add your route by flight number and date, or by hand. Flights, trains, buses, cars, ferries: chain as many legs as your journey takes.

  2. Get your day-by-day plan

One continuous plan for the whole trip: when to seek light, when to avoid it, when to sleep, when to take melatonin, when to stop the caffeine. It can start days before you fly, so you board part of the way there instead of starting from zero on arrival.

  3. Follow now + next

A forward timeline shows exactly what to do right now and the next thing coming up. The app even dims and brightens to match, so the guidance stays ambient instead of becoming another checklist to manage.

Whatever shape the trip is

One plan, whatever shape the trip is.

Real itineraries rarely fit in a single seat, a single city, or a single direction. Driftwise builds one continuous plan for all of it.

  • Every mode, one journey. Flights, trains, buses, cars, and ferries, chained in the order you actually travel, with guidance for the hours you spend in transit. Most jet-lag apps only think in flights.
  • The return is part of the same plan. Fly out and fly back and it is one plan, not two. Driftwise already knows you are coming home, and it carries the plan through the return instead of stopping at the destination.
  • Several cities, one target. On a multi-city trip the plan aims at the median of the cities' offsets, weighted by the nights you actually sleep in each, instead of chasing every hop.
  • And when the trip is too short to be worth it, it says so. Land on Thursday, fly home on Saturday, and dragging your clock eight hours east and straight back would leave you worse off than doing nothing. Driftwise deliberately reduces the target instead, and aims at a smaller shift you can actually keep.
A day-by-day plan across a multi-leg trip: a flight to Paris, a train on to London, the point where local time changes, and the timed sleep and coffee steps that follow.

Livable by design

A plan you can actually keep.

A perfect plan you abandon on day two is worth less than a modest one you follow. So the plan bends around your life, not the other way round.

  • Pace: gentle, balanced, or fast. You decide how hard the plan pushes on any given day, and how much of your evening it costs.
  • The ceiling is identical in all three. No app can move a body clock faster than a body clock moves. Fast does not beat biology. It spends more of your comfort to arrive at the same place, and we would rather say that out loud than let you believe otherwise.
  • Your working hours. Tell Driftwise when you have to be awake and useful, and the plan works around those hours instead of through them.
  • Your chronotype. An early riser and a night owl do not start from the same clock, so they do not get the same plan.
  • A ten-second check-in. Each morning, Driftwise re-tunes the rest of the plan from the night you actually had. If you turn it on, it can read your recent sleep from Apple Health instead: read-only, on your device, off by default, and never sent to us.
The adaptation arc: a chart showing your body clock shifting from home time toward destination time over the days of the trip, six of eight hours of the way there.

Built for the phone it runs on

You will barely open the app.

A plan is only useful if it reaches you at the moment it matters. Driftwise puts the next move where you are already looking, so most of the time the app is the last place you need to go.

The Dynamic Island at rest: a sun, and the time of the next move. The Dynamic Island, expanded: seek bright light now, and the time it changes.
The Dynamic Island, while a trip is running. It rests as a glyph and a time, and says the whole instruction when you look.
  • Lock Screen, Home Screen, and StandBy widgets Now and next, on the screen you already unlock forty times a day.
  • Live Activity and Dynamic Island While a trip is running, the current phase and the next move sit at the top of the screen, whatever else you are doing.
  • Siri, answered on the spot Ask what to do about jet lag right now and you get the answer without the app opening at all.
  • The adaptive theme The app goes light when the plan says seek light, and dark when it says wind down. A physical cue, not a notification.

None of this is decoration. These are the parts of iOS that take real work to build and cannot be bolted on afterwards. It is how you can tell an app was made for the phone it runs on.

Your travel record

Every crossing, kept.

See the clock shift you have guided, the time zones you crossed, east and west, the ways you traveled, and the cities along the way. Your logbook is built on your device from your own trips, and like the trips themselves it syncs only through your own private iCloud, never our servers. It grows with every journey, and it stays yours.

The Logbook: a cumulative record showing 55 hours of clock shift guided across 8 trips, the time zones crossed, the days the plans covered, an eastward and westward split, and the deepest crossing.

Privacy, by default

Your trips stay yours.

No account, no tracking, no third-party analytics. Your trips live on your device and sync only through your own private iCloud, never our servers, and we cannot read them. The only other time Driftwise touches the network is a flight lookup you ask for, which sends just the flight number and date. If you turn it on, Driftwise can also read your recent sleep from Apple Health, read-only and on your device, to set your plan's starting point. It is off by default and never sent to us.

Questions

A few things people ask.

How does Driftwise work?
You add your trip by flight number and date, or by hand. It can span flights, trains, buses, cars, and ferries. Driftwise then builds one continuous day-by-day plan that times your light, sleep, melatonin, and caffeine to shift your body clock toward your destination, based on the science of the light and melatonin phase-response curve.
Does it really reduce jet lag?
Jet lag is a timing problem: your internal clock is out of sync with local time. By nudging your clock a little each day with well-timed light and melatonin, you can adapt in days rather than the usual rule-of-thumb of one day per time zone. Driftwise is a planning tool grounded in circadian science, not a medical device, and individual results vary.
Do I have to take melatonin?
No. Melatonin is one lever, not the plan. Light and sleep timing do most of the work, and you are free to ignore the melatonin line: skipping it usually costs you a little speed, not the plan. Melatonin is a medicine in some countries and it does not suit everyone, so talk to a clinician before you take it.
What if the plan collides with a meeting?
Tell Driftwise the hours you have to be awake and working, and it plans around them instead of through them. You can also choose a gentler pace, which asks less of you on any given day. And the morning check-in re-tunes the rest of the plan from the night you actually had, not the night the plan wanted.
Do I need a watch or a wearable?
No. Driftwise needs your trip, and if you want it, a ten-second check-in each morning. Nothing to wear, nothing to charge. If you already own something that writes sleep to Apple Health, Driftwise can read it, read-only, on your device, and only if you turn it on.
What does Driftwise cost?
Your first trip is free, so you can plan a whole journey before you decide. After that, Driftwise is an annual plan or a one-time lifetime purchase, both listed in the pricing section of this page. There is no time-limited trial, and the App Store always shows the price for your country before you buy.
Is my data private?
Yes. No accounts, no tracking, no third-party analytics. Your trips stay on your device and sync only through your own private iCloud, never our servers. The only time Driftwise touches the network is a flight lookup you ask for, which sends just the flight number and date.
